These are the most important areas of maths for you to work on at home.  Your child will need to know all of their times tables by the end of Year 4.  We would like you to spend time every week working with your child on these.

For all ages, children will only learn their key number facts by saying them repeatedly.  Support your child to chant the times tables, ask them quick recall questions, count in multiples of the number forwards and backwards.

We have bought Times Tables Rock Stars and PiXL Times Tables to support your child's learning.  All children from Y2-Y6 have a login for these apps.  Please ask at the office if you need help with using these really useful resources.

These are the key number facts that your child must know:

Y1- number bonds within 10 then 20, counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

Y2- recall and use multiplication and division facts for 2, 5 and 10 times tables.  Number bonds within 20.

Y3- recall and use multiplication and division facts for 3, 4 and 8 times tables.  Number bonds within 100.

Y4 – recall and use multiplication and division facts for 6, 7 and 9 times tables.

Y5- recall and use multiplication and division facts for 11 and 12 times tables.  Use knowledge of number bonds in decimal calculations e.g. 3-2.3=

Y6- Use all multiplication and division facts in decimal questions e.g. 3x0.7= or 1.8÷6=

All children will be tested periodically in class on all of the times tables that they should know.  You will be kept informed about their progress.
