Sports Premium Funding
The Government has doubled their provision of additional funding of to provide substantial primary school sport funding in order to improve the provision of physical education and sport in primary schools. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to schools to be spent on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. All state-maintained schools, academies, middle schools, special schools and pupil referral units which have primary aged pupils will receive the funding.
The funding amount schools receive is based upon the number of children of primary age the school has. The sport premium is to be used to Increase the quality & breadth of PE & Sport provision, and increasing participation in PE & Sport. All schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £16000 plus a premium of £10 per pupil (in Years 1-6 in January 2017 census)
At Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School, we strive to promote healthy and active lifestyles and aim to provide sporting opportunities for all our pupils. We have a specialist PE teacher who has a duel role of teaching high quality PE and providing CPD for class teachers to enhance their skills.
