Learning at Home
It is really important in Year 5 that your child reads at home every day. This can be their school reading book or another suitable book from home. Please sign their reading record to confirm that this has happened.
Your child will be given spellings to learn each week. These can be found under the 'Spellings' tab. Please make sure that they practise these daily.
By the time children are in Year 5, they should know all of their times tables (both the multiplication and division facts). They should be able to use these in a variety of calculations. Please continue to practise these at home until your child is totally fluent. There is more information on this under the 'Maths Number Facts' tab.
If your child would like to do some further research or project work then we would love it if they used the Knowledge Organisers to support them in this. They could:
- Find out about an area of our topic that interests them and put together a presentation;
- Produce a piece of art inspired by our topic;
- Write a letter to someone linked to the topic;
- Produce a fact file on an area that interests them.
Or anything else that interests or inspires them!
Please bring this home learning into school in the final week of the half term.
