Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School

PSHE

The intention of the PSHE curriculum at Wooden Hill Primary School is to help children understand and value how they fit into and contribute to the world. We want children to understand the rights and responsibilities they have and others to them and celebrate the diversity across their local community and the wider world. We intend to equip children with the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to stay safe and build positive relationships throughout their lives.

Our curriculum puts a strong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and developing skills that will enable children to make informed decisions that support their own and others’ wellbeing. Through our lessons, which hold mindfulness and discussion at their core, we strive to create a safe, inclusive environment where children feel valued and safe to share their views and concerns.

Our curriculum is organised into six themed units across the year. The knowledge and skills taught in these areas is built upon each year.
