Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School

Computing

The Computing curriculum at Wooden Hill Primary School is designed to equip our
pupils with the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary to live and thrive in a
world increasingly shaped by technology. We aim to ensure all pupils become
computational thinkers and digitally literate citizens, in line with the aims of the
National Curriculum for England.
We intend for our pupils to:
 Understand Computer Science: Grasp the fundamental principles and
concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms, and
data representation. They will gain practical experience in writing and
debugging programs.
 Become Digitally Literate: Be able to use, express themselves, and develop
their ideas through information and communication technology (ICT),
preparing them for the workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
 Be Safe and Responsible: Understand the importance of online safety (e-
Safety) and use technology responsibly, respectfully, and legally.
 Connect to the World: Recognise the interconnectedness of computing with
other subjects, including mathematics, science, and design and technology,
and understand its impact on society.
