Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School

Hockey Tournament

The Year 5/6 mixed hockey team today took part in a tournament held at Bracknell Hockey Club. The team played brilliantly and won their group before going out in the quarter finals against Whitegrove Primary School, losing in extra time. Well done to everyone who played.

Report by Sascha-Leigh Zambo

First we played Holly Spring and drew 0-0. Next we played St Josephs who we beat 1-0 thanks to an excellent team performance and goal from Charlie. In the final game in our group, we were playing Crown Wood and beat them 1-0; we were through to the quarter finals! We were overjoyed that we were through, but we were playing Whitegrove, our rivals. It was an extremely tough game. We worked hard and did the best we could do. We played for the whole 10 minutes, still no games had been scored so we had to go to a golden goal scenario. Unfortunately, Whitegrove went for a shot and it slipped in a tiny gap and went in. It was sad but we did our best and we are all really proud of how well we did.
