WE LOVE OUR REVAMPED PLAY AREA
Our Reception children are absolutely loving their renovated outdoor play area.
Bright green astroturf has freshened up the space outside Mole and Vole classes , the old wooden play structure has been replaced with a fantastic new climbing structure and there is now a painted bike track too.
Reception staff say the new-look outdoor area has been a huge hit. "The new climbing frame has proved particularly popular with the children and is ideal for them to practise and develop their physical skills as well as some imaginative role play," they said.
They particularly love the astroturf area, adding: "This was previously a very muddy and dusty space. Not only does it transform the look of the area making it bright and inviting, it also means we can use our large outdoor space to its full potential and create an enjoyable learning experience for the children. We have more room for our small world area where the children are enjoying playing with dinosaurs and animals and the new quiet area has cushions and benches which we can use as an extra teaching space for stories and quiet activities."
But don't just take the teachers' word for it. This is what some of the little ones think of it:
"I play superheroes on the climbing frame," said Jack, enthusiastically.
"I like the climbing frame because I can swing on it," said Olivia C, with a huge grin on her face.
While Cydney-Rae said she liked pedalling on the bikes the most!
The next thing Reception teachers would like to develop is the gardening area where the children can make compost and grow their own fruit and veg. So, if you have any time to spare to help with this renovation project please speak to the school office or your child's teacher.
Furthermore, if you can donate any unwanted plant pots, tubs, wooden palettes, cable reels, compost or seeds it would be very much welcome. Together the play area can grow into an even more inviting fun and educational learning area !
