World Book Day 2019
What a fantastic World Book Day!
This year, the children from Reception to Year 6 all focused on one book: 'Journey' by Aaron Becker. This picture book takes the character, as well as the reader, on a journey through an array of landscapes and teaches the reader of kindness and friendship.
Throughout the day, children were also given the opportunity to take part in a 'Story Choice' activity. Teaching staff from around the school chose their favourite books (fiction or fact). Following this, the children were able to sign up to hear one of these books being read by the surprise teacher who chose it.
THANK YOU to all of the children who entered the prize competition. Children were asked to write a book review about their all time favourite book. Despite the amazing efforts of so many children, there could only be four winners:
From Foundation Stage, the winner was Daisy with her review of 'Ruby the Red Fairy';
From Key Stage 1, the winner was Jessica with her review of 'George's Marvellous Medicine';
From Lower Key Stage 2, the winner was Ellie with her review of 'There's a Yeti in the Playground'; and
From Upper Key Stage 2, the winner was Bonnie with her reviews of 'Swallows and Amazons' and 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway'.
