Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School

Science

The Science curriculum at Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery school aims to spark children’s curiosity by providing practical experiences that encourage them to ask and find the answers to questions that will develop their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. Children are encouraged to use scientific vocabulary to describe what they see and make observations and predictions by making connections.

In the Early Years, children develop scientific skills such as observation and sorting. Throughout their time at Wooden Hill, these skills will be developed and refined to enable them to plan, conduct and present their findings using the five different types of enquiry by the end of Year Six. Through research, visitors and trips, the children find out about careers in science and the importance of science research and developments to the wider world.
