At Wooden Hill School, we value art and design as an essential part of the curriculum where children are able to express themselves through exploration and creativity. We believe that art is crucial to building an understanding of the world around us, our history and a variety of cultures. Children become aware of various artists and their unique styles of art.

Skills covered throughout children’s time at Wooden Hill include developing a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space. They will also be given opportunities to improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials.

Through experimentation, evaluating and improving their work children learn the values of perseverance and resilience. We ensure children are provided with exciting, engaging and memorable experiences to inspire them, and build a lifelong love of art and design.
